URUMI Review:
Helmed by
Globally accaclaimed prolific cinematographer, Santosh Sivan, story of vasco-de-gama, Investment of muti-crores.Natuarally the expectations would be bigger.
Thankfully urumi lives upto its mammoth expectations.
Urumi tells the story of a man kelu nair who wants to finish off the Gama.,the reason behind his vengence ,his struggle, love, freindshp etc are depicted aesthetically.
Santosh Sivan deserves brownie points for handling the two prime departments of a movie DOP n Diretion with atmost ease and élan.
In
Each and every frame, every shot we could clearly witness the stamp of a perfect crafts man.. Every scene looks like a perfect painting by Rajaravivarma. The colour tone used through out the movie is simply awesome. Direction is next to perfect.
Prithvi raj who essayseys the role of kelu nair is a pleasure to watch.as far s as his acting skills concerned he shows tremendous improvement comparing to his previous outings.
Prabhudeva as the inseperable buddy of kelu nair is a revelaton.he is back in form after a pretty long tme,he provides ample doze of funny moments especially with his sharp onliners…
Among the heroines Genelia got maximum footage, she excels as Arakkal Princess Ayisha. She got enough space to prove his acting caliber as well as flaunting her assets (without any inhibitions). Infact she adds the glamour quotient to Urumi….
Vidya balan wasted in an insignificant role.one may doubt what she’s doing in the movie? Y she said yes to such role. Appears from nowhere and a cleavage show then vainshe dinto thin air....bas khallas.
Tabu’s special appearance doesn’t raise any surprise…nitya menon is ok
Songs are nice to hear .
Some minor hipcups :
A pivotal question remain un answered “ what happen to aysha after kelu nairs death??
And running time of 180 minutes.could have been shorter..
On the whole its a visually splendid extravaganza..
Watch it for your eyes only…
